![]() RetailPerkins Thompson is fortunate to have several very substantial specialty retail clients who have relied on the firm's services as they recently experienced substantial growth in northern New England and Maine in particular. These client activities require knowledge pertaining to state and federal laws regulating such retail business operations, but also require coordination and alignment with a number of the firm's practice groups including government relations, health care, information technology, employment and labor, banking, financial services, transportation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution, merger and acquisitions, and distribution and dealerships. The firm's clients tend to be highly visible and in many instances their business issues are both politically sensitive and of great interest to the media and the public at large. Practice issues as diverse as healthcare, tobacco, alcohol, energy, taxation, licensing and employment arise on a daily basis. These clients tend to have a substantial number of business operations throughout the width and breadth of the State of Maine, and in several instances employ well in excess of 1,000 individuals, making some of these clients amongst the top 25 employers within the State of Maine. Certain matters which can come up at a moment's notice require nearly constant consultation with in house corporate communications specialists, government affairs staff, legal departments, and financial affairs personnel. This particular Practice Group is the epitome of interdisciplinary work effort involving nearly all members of the firm at one time or another.
